Sun and (my first) Prominences - Fireworks with a fizzle 20220928 17:50cedt
(WARNING: NEVER look directly at the sun without appropriate eye-protection)
Progressing on my new chapter in astrophotography, I managed my second shot at the sun, this time trying to catch out some of the prominences at the side.
Although this was still with the straight 1100mm focal length, reduced to f22, no Barlow (as the front D-ERF was still pending), I tried to catch the prominences at 480p, which puts this a bit at low resolution, slightly under-sampled.
Different views collected: a full disk view, a ‘central’ view on AR 3110, a detailed view of the prominence that was near AR 3108 (high exposure, blacked out sun), a combined disk/prominence view
Since then the D-ERF has arrived. Next step will be to really zoom in on the prominences, but for now, this already gives me a nice glimpse at these tiny, little flames at the side of the sun … some of them dwarfing the earth in comparison

Step by step, getting closer to the ‘flames’ … The most difficult thing seems to be getting the right colour for the sun
